Archive of Bond 1995 - Bond Status Report - 5/10/2000

The following Bond 1995 Projects Status Report was presented to the Lane Community College Board of Education at its May 10, 2000 meeting.

Community Learning Centers
All Community Learning Centers have been completed and are in operation except the Junction City center. The exterior work is about 95% complete and the interior is about 85% complete. Construction will be completed by late May.

Main Campus Projects:
Welding Technology:
The building has been completed and classes of the welding and jewelry programs are being held. There are still a few things which need to be done by our Facilities people.

Child Care Center:
This project is on schedule.
Building #1 which houses the Child Care Resource Connection and the offices of the Child Care Development Center should be completed and ready for occupants by mid May. The Resource Connection is scheduled to be moved and operating by June 1.

Campus Service Addition:
Construction is on schedule and Printing/Graphics and Laundry are scheduled to be moved and operating by early June.

Science/Math:
Erection of the structural steel frame is proceeding apace. The east additions are framed and roofed. The concrete slab of the south addition has been poured.

Student Services:
So far this is our "Dream Job"; Construction is on schedule and there have been few problems. A free-standing elevator which is part of the campus accessability scheme is planned to be added to this project. The elevator will stand between the Student Services and Business buildings and will make both floors of the Administration and Business buildings accessable.

Workforce Training:
Some changes have been made to the design to bring the project closer to its' target budget; The kitchen has been redesigned, one elevator has been eliminated and another changed to a "dumb waiter". If the final cost estimate shows the building to be within its budget the project will go out for bids in early June with a construction start in August.

Health Tech. Remodel:
Phase 1 of this project (the lower floor) will go out to bid shortly. Construction should begin in July and completion is planned for December. Drawings of this phase are on display in the lobby.

Infrastructure Upgrade
All cabling has been installed up to the Student Services building.

Sewage Lagoon Upgrade
Nothing new to report.

LTD Bus Station
Construction documents are being prepared for this project. The interagency agreement between LCC and LTD has been reviewed by the college attorneys. Actual construction of the station is still scheduled for this summer. Drawings of this station are on display in the lobby.

The following things have happened since writing the Update in the Board mailing:
At the Junction City CLC the slab on grade is still too moist to install floor coverings. We'll have to wait until it drys out.

A building code problem has come up on the boiler flue enclosure in the addition to Campus Services building which, if not solved in time, could delay the move of the laundry.

Funding for the proposed National Guard Armory has been delayed until October, '02 at the earliest. This date is beyond DEQ's time schedule.
Consequently, we intend to proceed with plans to improve the level of treatment to tertiary standards. If, in the future, the National Guard wanted to use the lagoon system and if the college was willing we could begin discussions about terms and conditions.

Bids for the Bus Station will be opened June 7 and bids for Phase 1 of the Health Tech. Remodel will be opened June 9. We hope to bring the results of these bids to you for award of contract at your June 14th meeting.
