STUDENT SERVICES PROJECT WILL CLOSE DRIVEWAYS & SIDEWALK
The driveway in front of the west entrance fountain known as Dale Parnell Loop will be closed to vehicles when construction of the Student Services Building begins on Feb. 28. Vehicle traffic will be restricted to parking lot drive-through aisles. A new drop-off area will be designated for Child Development Center clients at the north end of the closure.
The south half of the Loop will be enclosed by construction fencing but pedestrians will still have access to the main entrance sidewalk over the fountain pond, as well as Health Tech Building ramps and sidewalks. The sidewalk to the south side of the fountain pond will be closed. The contractor currently plans to set up either job trailers or store materials on the enclosed part of the Dale Parnell Loop.
Construction also will close the west end of the old bus lane by Apprenticeship, to the southwest corner of the Business Building. Vehicles will still be able to access the Center Building, Forum Building, and other buildings along the lane, by entering and exiting from the east end. Signage will be installed to regulate back-and-forth traffic in the one-lane road. Chambers Construction was awarded the Student Services Building construction contract for $3,748,270 at the Jan. 22 Board of Education meeting.
DEQ HEARING ON SEWAGE LAGOONS TO BE HELD
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality will conduct a public hearing on Lane's Mutual Agreement and Order to upgrade main campus sewage lagoons, on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Boardroom. The upgrade is needed to handle increased waste volume since the lagoons were built. The hearing was requested by some neighbors across 30th Avenue. Such hearings are routinely offered and conducted by DEQ. For more information, call Mike Ruiz, Facilities Management, Ext. 2566.
Questions and comments about any bond construction activity may be directed to 744-4154 or e-mailed to bond@lanecc.edu. All communication received will be regularly reviewed by the Bond Project Management Team (BPMT), the architects, and the Facilities Management Committee.
