MOODLE SECURITY SETTINGS |
1) Students taking exams in the Center 456 Lab are not able to browse to sites outside of MOODLE. We have been using a browser (iCab) in kiosk mode. I am not sure what the set up is in the Science Resource Center, Cottage Grove and Florence.
2) The secure IP list is entered if an Instructor wants a quiz restricted to only LCC sites. For quizzes at non-LCC sites, the Instructor must also use the password field and Email the password to the proctor.
Typically, if an Instructor wants an exam(s) proctored, then s/he will enter the secure IP list in the appropriate field, choose "or" from the drop-down menu "require address and/or password" and also enter a password in the password field. With this set up, students can take the exam at LCC testing sites and if a student(s) needs to take the exam from a non-LCC site s/he will be prompted for a password.
I recommend that Instructors use different passwords for each exam.
Please note: It is essential that the Instructor choose "or", not "and" in the "require address and/or password" field, if s/he wants the exam to be accessible at BOTH LCC and non-LCC sites. Choosing "and" restricts the exam to LCC secure testing sites AND requires a password, if there is a password entered in the password field. It would not be feasible to track all of the passwords for Instructors' exams from 8 different departments campus-wide, which is why we have the password over-ride in MOODLE.
