Credit Student Outcomes

In compliance with the Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-542), it is the policy of Lane Community College to disclose its completion/graduation rate and transfer rate to all current and prospective students. Rates are based on fall term enrollment of full-time (12 term credits), first-time, degree- or certificate-seeking undergraduates. Students are counted as graduates or as transfers-out if they graduated or transferred within 150 percent of the normal time for completion or graduation. Rates do not include part-time credit students, students who have attended college elsewhere before attending Lane, students who began their studies in a term other than fall or non-degree seeking students.

From a 2003 cohort of 533 full-time, first-time, degree/certificate-seeking students, 52 completed a degree by spring 2006 (10%) and of those remaining, 115 transferred to another higher education institution (24%).

From a 2003 cohort of 18 full-time, first-time, degree/certificate-seeking students who received athletically-related student aid, one completed a degree by spring 2006 (6%) and of those remaining, four transferred to another higher education institution (24%).

In 2004, Lane surveyed 2002-03 graduates and students who completed a majority of degree requirements before leaving Lane.  According to the 559 survey respondents:

  • 97% achieved their goals at Lane.
  • 84% of students from career and technical programs were employed in jobs related to their field of study after leaving Lane.
  • 88% of these career and technical students reported Lane's courses were "Very Relevant" or "Relevant" to their jobs.
  • 76% of students from transfer programs were continuing their education after leaving Lane.
  • 75% of these transfer students reported Lane prepared them "Well" of "Very Well" for classes at their new institution.
