Overview
The Oregon CC Green Initiative is an effort to:
- Create a framework that effectively illustrates current and planned green activities and focus areas across Oregon’s seventeen community colleges.
- Leverage current efforts and hoped for expansions of "green" training at the community colleges into "statewide" (several to seventeen community colleges participating, depending on college focus, preferences and grant requirements) proposals that successfully compete for federal, state and other grant resources.
Goals
- Inventory current situation in terms of CC "green" programs/activities related to workforce training.
- Create framework for desired situation in terms of expansion/new programs related to CC "green" programs and how these relate to existing Oregon statewide strategic direction, i.e. Career Pathways; Carl Perkins Programs of Study; Career Readiness Certificate; Workforce Integration; Dept. of Transportation Electric Car initiative; OECDD Focus clusters; etc.
- Gather specific information necessary to compete effectively for federal, state and other grant resources related to "green".
- Prepare and submit competitive statewide grant proposal(s) in response to funding opportunities related to "green".
- Ensure that Oregon Community College Green Initiative takes a collaborative and nested approach with other Oregon green proposals/initiatives.
