EUGENE - Oregon Medical Group and Oregon Medical Laboratories have been named co-recipients of the 2006 Employer of the Year Award from the Lane Community College Cooperative Education Program.
"Both OMG and OML are committed to developing tomorrow's workforce," says co-op chair Andrea Newton. "They see the benefits of investing the time to provide Lane students with quality experiences."
Barry Marshall, director of operations and human resources at OMG, and Cheryl Suter, OML phlebotomy manager, both praise the co-op program. "Oregon Medical Group has had the pleasure of working with LCC Cooperative Education students for several years,” says Marshall. “We are extremely pleased with the quality of the students that come from the programs with which we work. They are very well prepared for the co-op experience, so much so that we have employed a number of them after graduation."
The Co-op program annually recognizes an organization that provides exceptional work-site learning opportunities for students. Lane coordinates more than 2,000 student internships each year at over 800 different sites. Thirty faculty coordinators select the annual award winner.
