King Retail Solutions earns Employer of the Year Award
|
EUGENE - The Lane Community College Cooperative Education Program has named King Retail Solutions of Eugene as 2005 Employer of the Year.
Lane President Mary Spilde will present the award at the annual Advisory Committee Gala Dinner on Tuesday, April 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue.
King Retail Solutions was selected for its commitment to cooperative education by providing quality worksite learning opportunities for Lane students. The company has offered excellent co-op sites and full-time employment for many co-op students after they completed their Lane programs.
"We know of at least eight King employees who were former Lane Community College students," says Cooperative Education Division Chair Andrea Newton. "I would guess there are several more."
Lane's cooperative education program is one of the nation's oldest and largest with more than 2,000 students and 800 employers participating annually. Faculty coordinators select the annual employer award winner. The award is presented at the annual recognition dinner held for the college's 45 program advisory committees. The committees include nearly 600 members of business, industry and labor who provide expertise and support to the college's professional technical and other instructional programs.
According to www.retaildesigncenter.com, King Retail Solutions was established as King Design in 1967. Originally owned by Ed King, new investors purchased the company in 1993. In 2003, the company changed its name to King Retail Solutions, reflecting growth into other retail niches and services including strategic branding, engineering, manufacturing, logistics and installation. "Three of the nation's five largest supermarket chains are our clients. And as the retail market consolidates and changes, we continue to count successes in other types of retail, especially fast-fresh restaurants, soft goods, banks, drug stores and sporting goods."###
