McKenzie-Willamette and Sacred Heart to share LCC business award
EUGENE - McKenzie-Willamette and Sacred Heart medical centers have been named co-recipients of the 2004 Business of the Year Award from the Lane Community College Cooperative Education Program.
The program annually recognizes an organization that provides exceptional work-site learning opportunities for students. Lane coordinates more than 2,000 student internships each year at over 800 different sites. Thirty-five faculty coordinators select the annual award winner.
McKenzie-Willamette and Sacred Heart each have provided thousands of students with quality work experiences in the field. Both provide opportunities in a variety of career areas including health occupations, electronics, administrative office support, and computers.
"It takes considerable time and effort to provide a cooperative education internship," says co-op chair Andrea Newton. "Both McKenzie-Willamette and Sacred Heart are committed to tomorrow's workforce, and both have invested in Lane since the beginning."
Rosemary Pryor, MWMC's marketing and planning director, says, "We are honored to receive this award and are proud to participate in and support such an important community education program."
The Business of the Year Award will be presented at the college's annual
advisory committee recognition gala to be held Thursday, May 6, from 5:30-7:30
p.m. in the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19, LCC main campus.
