Using the College Logo
Procedures
for Using the Logo
The college logo should not be altered in any way. Treat the logo as a
single graphic unit, and do not rearrange, compress, stretch, or alter
the logo. The official colors for the two-color logo are blue PMS 287
and gold PMS 130. When printing the logo in one color, use blue if available.
Leave a cushion of white space around the logo: the minimum cushion around
the logo is the height of the "C" of the word "College"
in the logo.
Where
to Use the Logo
The logo should appear on all official college publications, in all promotional
advertising, and on all printed communications that circulate off campus.
This includes newspaper ads, brochures, posters, newsletters, stationery,
business cards, other publications, video, web pages and CD-ROMs. The
logo can also be applied to documents intended for use on campus by college
staff. The college logo is the only logo that should be used to represent
college departments and programs. For more information about logo use
on Lane's web site, see the templates on the Standard Formatting Guidelines
web page.
How
to Get the Logo
The logo is available on disc in either Mac or Windows formats from Printing/Graphics
and Marketing and Public Relations (free of charge and without any paperwork).
The logo should not be copied and pasted from a college web page because
the resolution of the image will be poor and the quality unsuitable for
publishing in print.
History
and Meaning of the Logo
Lane adopted its new logo in 1998. The name "Lane Community College" was first used in 1964. The purpose of having a logo is to have a unique
graphic symbol which projects a consistent and positive image of the college.
The college logo represents the physical location of the college between
the hills of the southern Willamette Valley, an open book to represent
learning and the college's open admissions policy, and the rising sun
to suggest illumination and optimism. The name of the college is set in
a modified Goudy typeface, and Goudy and Univers are the official college
fonts.
Who
Can Use the Logo
The logo may not be used by any individuals, entities, or other organizations
without the permission of the college. Lane Community College has all
right, title, and interest in the logo. Lane Community College and the
Lane Community College logo are trademarks filed with the State of Oregon.
