Media Arts Equipment Check Out Policy 2008-2009

Gear is only available to those students that are currently enrolled in the Multimedia Design Curriculum. 

Gear is only available to borrow for course related work.

Gear is only available to those students that have been properly trained by attending the corresponding course/s that demonstrate how to safely and properly use the equipment.

Fines and Penalties:
Students that are late returning gear will be fined.
(Currently at $35 for the first day.)
If the student is “No call or no show” by day two, the item will be reported stolen to the authorities and the student will be banned from all Check Out privileges. 

If there are emergency circumstances that prevent you from returning the gear on time -- i.e. death of loved one, severe illness, car crash, vehicle breakdown – Contact us immediately so that we can accommodate others that are waiting for the gear.  If you help us help others, we may be able to help you avoid being fined.

If you damage the gear while in your possession you will be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement.

If the gear is stolen, or items are missing from the kit, you will be responsible for the replacement costs.

Regarding sharing gear:
During peak production times throughout the term there may be instances where overnight or over the weekend you will need to make arrangements with fellow students to share gear.   Prior to leaving LCC make sure that you have all the necessary contact information from the student/s you need in order to make the exchange.  The check out operators can assist you with process.

Hours of operation:
The check out counter hours may vary from term to term.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with the current terms hours.

Operation Process:

  • Gear will only be available to pick up and return during Open hours.
  • Always reserve gear in advance to insure that the equipment is available. (Located at equipment check out)
  • Clearly print your name in the reservation book and indicate the time you plan to come to pick up in the reservation time slot.
  • When you come to pick up gear, be sure to completely fill out the yellow card.
  • The equipment check out operator will verify that the card is filled out completely before you leave with the gear. 
  • You will sign the yellow card when you borrow gear, then again when you return the gear.  Each time you fill out a yellow card you are agreeing to a contract. Be sure you understand that you are liable before you sign.
  • Be sure that you have everything you need prior to leaving equipment check out. i.e. cables, batteries, stands, gels, clamps etc.
