Facilities Council Policies - Adopted on 1/18/06

Introduction

All of Lane Community College’s facilities are intended to support and serve the college’s Vision, Mission, Core Values and Strategic Directions. Within the Strategic Direction, “Transforming the Learning Environment”, the college seeks to “create, enhance, and maintain inviting and welcoming facilities that are safe, accessible, functional, well-equipped, aesthetically appealing and environmentally sound.” The policies listed below connect the above intentions with everyday processes that result in the physical environment of the college.

The Facilities Council is charged with creating, reviewing and revising policies that govern the development, operation and maintenance of facilities and the impacts the college has on the planet.
Policies are developed for some of the areas and other areas need policies.

Policies:

  1. All new college facilities, remodels and additions shall be constructed in accordance with applicable building codes, regulations, sustainable principles , and safe practices.
  2. All college facilities shall be maintained, operated, and developed in a safe and healthy manner; and used for intended purposes.
  3. The College shall provide, develop and maintain functional enclosed and exterior spaces to realize optimum, accessible and aesthetic learning environments.
  4. The College shall ensure that interior and exterior spaces are used in the most effective and efficient manner possible.
  5. The College is committed to sustainable development that meets its present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
  6. Policy areas yet to be developed:
  7. Policy concerning “Transportation” (Policy to be developed by Long Range Transportation Work Group)
  8. Policy concerning Public Safety (Could be subsumed under #2??)
  9. Policy concerning use of college facilities by outside entities.
