Change in Meeting Schedule
BAG meetings will be scheduled on the first and third Wednesdays of
the month, 3-5 PM in BUS 205. Future BAG meetings will be: 3/6,
3/20, 4/3, 4/17, 5/1, 5/15, 6/5.
Board Meeting
At the last Board work session, the Board briefly discussed the issue
of tuition. Bill Kyker advised the Board that BAG was working on
a tuition policy that would be presented to the Board soon.
BAG is invited to attend the next Board work session on March 6.
It would be an opportunity to discuss BAGís tuition policy recommendation.
Senior Tuition
Figures show that the 50% senior tuition cost the college approximately
$100,000. The Executive Team has made a recommendation to the Board
to cut the discount to 25% with another mechanism for seniors to apply
for a discount. A BAG recommendation regarding a change in the current
discount policy might be important for the Boardís final decision making.
BAG determined that such a recommendation would be separate from the tuition
policy recommendation. BAG would point out the fact of accessibility
issues for all students.
Tuition policy and Recommendations
BAG agreed to prepare two separate pages: page one would be the
ìRecommendation on Tuition Policy,î and page two would include four further
recommendations: 1)an immediate one-time tuition increase adjustment, 2)elimination
of the current reciprocity agreement with neighboring states, 3)
elimination of the senior tuition discount, 4) process to address accessibility
for all economically disadvantaged students. The finalized version
of this two-page recommendation would be given to the Executive Team for
their review and will be posted on the Transparency Group web site.
The next BAG meeting will be March 6, 3-5PM, BUS 205. Donna
Zmolek to facilitate.
