Biographical Sketch: John (Jack) Carter

In 1969 John E. (Jack) Carter took over as dean of students. Carter attended Southern Oregon State College where he received a B.S. in elementary education in 1954. The University of Oregon awarded him a M.Ed degree in 1963. He began working at LCC in 1967 as a counselor and director of student activities until he took over as dean in 1969. He retained this postition until 1988 when he left to serve as interim president of LCC. He retired in 1990.

Content Description (Scope & Content Note)

The collection contains the correspondence, subject files, and administrative records documenting the tenure of interim college president John (Jack) Carter, 1988-1990. The Subject Files include correspondence and reports concerning the president's dealings with college academic and administrative departments, offices, and committees. The bulk of the records date 1989-1990 although a few records are from the offices of Richard Turner and Jerry Moskus, who preceded and followed Carter. The External Organizations Records document communications with community organizations, state educational agencies, and national organizations.
